What is Schoolies?

Schoolies is phenomena celebrated by Year 12 school leavers from all around Australia. It takes place after the Year 12 exams around mid-November through to mid-December.

The Schoolies Festival in South Australia is run by a non-profit organisation called Encounter Youth. Their aim is to provide bands, food, and other entertainment to schoolies in a safe environment. Encounter Youth have put in place a number of measures including:

  • 3 night music festival
  • provision of security guards at all 'schoolies' venues
  • a team of 400+ volunteers
  • Collaboration and attendance by various Government agencies including the Office of the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner to ensure safe party messages are presented to all schoolies attending the event.
