As Christmas Eve 2006 will fall on a Sunday extended trading authorisation is required if a licensee wishes to trade beyond 8pm on that day.
If a licensee wishes to trade beyond midnight on Christmas Eve, a specific extended trading authorisation authorising trade between midnight and 2am on Christmas Day is required.
Please be aware that if a licence includes an extended trading authorisation for a “Sunday preceding a public holiday” this does not include Christmas Eve. Although Christmas Day is a public holiday, it has a special significance in the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 and therefore a specific Christmas Day extended trading authorisation is required to permit trade between midnight and 2am on Christmas Day.
With the festive season fast approaching it is appropriate to remind licensees of the requirements for Christmas trading. Click here for details.
