What Do I Need to Do If I Want a Licence to Work for a
Bookmaker?
In order for you to be granted a licence, it is a requirement that the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner
find you to be a suitable person to hold a licence. Criminal and business history may be taken into
account when considering your application.
If you want to obtain a licence to work for a bookmaker, you will first need to fill out an application
form and a personal history information declaration form.
You will need to lodge both forms plus two passport
photos of yourself with the Office of the Liquor and
Gambling Commissioner - Racing Services with the prescribed
fee. You will then be issued with a fingerprinting form.
You will need to take this form to the Licensing Enforcement Branch to be fingerprinted so that a
criminal history check can be carried out. You must call the number listed on the form to make an
appointment.
Your application will then be processed and forwarded to the Liquor and Gambling Commissioner for
consideration and approval. Please note this process will take approximately 6-8 weeks from the time
you lodge your application.
If your application is approved, you will be sent your licence and your photo-id badge (which must be
worn at all times when operating under the licence).
If you have any enquiries, please direct them to the
